TPeePrivacy policy
This policy explains what the TPee app and tpee.io collect, why, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect what's needed to run your account and show the community's contributions. Your location stays on your phone. We don't show ads, and we never sell your data.
What we collect
If you only browse
You can use the map, search and directions without an account. We don't create a profile for you. To show nearby restrooms, the app asks our database for listings in the area on your screen. Those requests aren't linked to you or stored by TPee.
Your account
- Sign-in details. Your email address (email sign-in), or the identifier Apple or Google gives us (Sign in with Apple can hide your real email). Passwords are handled by Firebase Authentication. We never see them.
- Username. A random username is created for you. You can change it.
- Settings. Your restroom preferences, saved restrooms, profile visibility and analytics choice.
- Points and badges you earn.
What you contribute
- Restrooms you add, reviews, ratings and photos are public and shown with your username. Your profile visibility controls whether others can open a page listing all of them.
- Confirmations. When you confirm a restroom, we store your answers and how far away you were, but not where you were.
- Reports and suggested edits are visible only to you and TPee moderators.
- Photos. Location and camera metadata are removed on your phone before upload. Photos are reviewed before they're public.
Location
With your permission, TPee uses your location while the app is open to find restrooms near you and show distances. Your location isn't stored on our servers and isn't used for anything else. TPee never uses location in the background.
Diagnostics
- Crash reports. If the app crashes, it sends a crash report: device model, iOS version, app version and what the app was doing. This isn't linked to your identity.
- Usage analytics are off unless you turn them on (Profile › Share anonymous usage). When on, we count actions like "search" or "directions opened" — never your location.
How we use it
- To run your account, show your contributions, and award points and badges.
- To keep listings accurate and moderate content.
- To prevent abuse, such as rate limits and spam detection.
- To fix crashes and improve the app.
We don't use your data for advertising, we don't sell it, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.
Who processes it
TPee runs on Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, Crashlytics and, only if you opt in, Analytics), which stores and processes data on our behalf. Sign-in with Apple or Google is handled by those companies under their own privacy policies. Directions open in the maps app you choose.
Your choices
- Profile visibility: Public, Limited or Private (Profile › Privacy).
- Location: allow or deny in iOS Settings. You can still search by place.
- Analytics: off by default, and you can change it any time.
- Delete your account in the app at any time. See Delete your account.
Keeping and deleting data
We keep your account data while your account exists. When you delete your account, we delete your account, settings, saved restrooms, reviews, points and badges. Restrooms you added stay on the map because others rely on them, but your name is removed from them.
Children
TPee isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information. If you think a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
